6’2” West Ham star on par with Salah can make national statement with big performance – Opinion

With the likes of Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez and Marko Arnautovic leaving West Ham this summer, finding a group of strikers to replace the former Irons trio seemed like a difficult task, yet Manuel Pellegrini has seemingly managed to do so with just one new signing.

Sebastien Haller’s arrival to east London seemed to come out of nowhere, with the towering French attacking signing for West Ham for a reported club-record fee of £45m according to BBC Sport, and eight games into life in the Premier League, the former Eintracht Frankfurt has been impressive in his first few matches in the English top-flight.

As stats from Transfermarkt show, the 25-year-old centre-forward has managed four goals in the Premier League this season as well as one assist, the same number of strikes as Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and two more than Manchester United leading striker Marcus Rashford as stats from the Premier League’s official website show.

Indeed, Haller has shown in a short space of time that he could be the striker to lead the West Ham attacking line for years to come, yet this afternoon’s game against Everton will be yet another massive test for the former Bundesliga striker, and a good performance from the 6’2” striker could send a message out to the rest of the division.

Very rarely do we see a striker make the jump from the Bundesliga to the Premier League and carry their fantastic form from Germany to England with such relative ease, yet for Haller, the West Ham is seemingly showing this with his impressive goal record eight games into the campaign.

And a big performance against the Toffees, who are currently on a four-game losing run in the division, will be exactly what Haller needs to prove to the Premier League that he can thrive in England and become one of the top strikers in the country.
