‘£30m makes a mockery of the sport’: Rival fans criticisms show West Ham dodged a bullet

|

West Ham have been battling for consistency in the Premier League so far this season and the first few months of the campaign show there is still work to be done.

Manuel Pellegrini splashed in excess of £100m to bolster his Hammers squad during the summer transfer window, bringing in the likes of Issa Diop and Felipe Anderson, but he could have spent more if all his advances were successful.

According to The Evening StandardWest Ham made a late push on Deadline Day in an attempt to land Franck-Andre Zambo Anguissa ahead of London rivals Fulham – though it was the Cottagers that eventually secured his signature.

That was seen as a blow to West Ham, particularly as injury issues for Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez have left the Hammers short on options in the middle of the park, but criticisms towards Anguissa from Fulham fans after Monday’s 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield suggest Pellegrini dodged a bullet.
