As we prepare to welcome Cardiff City, to Upton Park, for a 3rd round Capital One Cup tie, a fixture that is a repeat of the opening day of the 2013/2014 season, Sam Allardyce has played down a milestone he`ll reach tonight.

Tonight, apparently, will be Sam`s 100th game in charge of The Hammers but it is a milestone that doesn`t sit comfortably with the boss with Sam remarking to the media,

“When you say well done after 100 games, it really does worry me – 300 or 400 games, fine, but 100? That amount should be much more across the board than it is now.”

“With the constant changing of managers, it seems 100 games is regarded as a bit of an achievement but for me that is pretty disappointing.”

“I enjoy working in football and it`s the only thing I know.”

“But as a manager, what you fear is the sack because we are all in a survival game.”

Indeed they are and 100 does seem a miniscule figure to celebrate but then again I suppose it`s another sign of how the game has changed!
