10 goals this season: Pellegrini would solve big West Ham issue with move for striker – opinion

|

It’s going to be an interesting summer at West Ham. It’s clear that further improvement is needed, but we knew that at the start of the season. Now we’ve just got to hope that Manuel Pellegrini will get the funding that he deserves.

Whether he does or not remains to be seen, but the Hammers do appear to be identifying potential targets. The latest man to catch our eye, according to the Daily Mirror, is Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic – who was recently relegated with Fulham.

We’ve had a bit of a problem with our attack this season, with all of our options dealing with moments of poor form. Not to mention, there’s a real lack of youth between the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez, and that’s a consideration that must be made too.

Mitrovic, then, may prove to be a very smart target. He’s bagged 10 league goals this season, which is more than any other player at West Ham, and so in that sense, he’d offer exactly what we’ve lacked at times.

A strong and powerful forward, Mitrovic has bags of quality going forward, and he’s perfectly suited to the physical style of the Premier League. Furthermore, his quality with the ball at his feet is good, as evidenced by the two assists he’s bagged this term. He’s also been the Man of the Match 4 times this season, according to Who Scored, which speaks volumes of his involvement for Fulham.

Not to mention, at 24-years-old, he’s a player that is still improving, and he’d be a long-term solution for the Hammers in pursuit of further attacking quality.

He ticks all the boxes for us, so surely a move makes sense?
