Vital Hammers News

0 From 3 Could Become 0 From 7 Or Just As Likely 12 From 7

|

Three games into the new 2018 / 2019 season and things look far from rosy for West Ham United.

After a huge summer window transfer splurge, the likes of which we’d not seen before, the Hammers have not taken a single point from the nine available and currently find themselves at the foot of the Premier League table.

We are now approaching the scenario whereby we have to start to collect points soon, otherwise what promised to be a season of high hopes could be one of doom and gloom.

But, looking at the next four fixtures, you have to wonder where the points might come from, with our next four games being:

• Wolverhampton Wanderers (h)

• Everton (a)

• Chelsea (h)

and

• Manchester United (h)

Now, with three of those games at home, you’d expect the Hammers to collect points but that’s what we thought when we played Bournemouth at home recently.

Taking a quick look at the four teams:

Wolves – fresh out of the Championship showed they have adapted to life quickly in the top-tier holding Manchester City to a draw on Saturday but causing the reigning title holders all sorts of problems

Everton – have started the season well and like ourselves; went on a summer splurge, however, their new signings appear to have settled in quicker than ours and we all know Goodison Park is always a difficult ground to visit.

Chelsea – three games into the season and our London neighbours now managed by Maurizio Sarri, have maximum points from their first three games.

Manchester United – continue to hog the newspaper headlines with rumours of a rift between the volatile Jose Mourinho and the board, but despite losing away to Brighton, they are a class team.

Four difficult fixtures that could, if we don’t get our act together, see the Hammers pointless after seven games, a far from ideal scenario.

But, then again, knowing our club we could quite easily beat all four and take maximum points and soar up the Premier League table.

How do you see it panning out?
